Eight of the world's highest mountains are located in Nepal, including Mount Everest. The trekker need only carry a small backpack with a few clothes, a water bottle and daily requisites. The return journey takes about a week.

There are also private art galleries and a national art gallery called NAFA in Kathmandu which exhibit and sell a variety of modern and traditional paintings. There is a vast selection of dining opportunities to be found in Kathmandu with many restaurants serving authentic Nepali food complete with ethnic ambience as well as a selection of Indian, Chinese, Continental, Japanese, Korean and Thai foods.
