Chris (Owner of Northside) suggested I have a chat with them, and then I realized that I was already a big fan of Lotek's works with Roots Manuva and otherwise. We stepped into the alley and recorded this right quick before they left.

I was with Jake "Mista" Savona, recording emcee Mantra in a loft-style overdubbing studio in Melbourne. We stepped out to get something to eat and this girl was in the stairwell working on a tune. Jake and I looked at each other at the bottom of the stairs and both thought the same thing. We walked back up and asked if she wouldn't mind playing us what she's working on.

I caught up with (absolute sweetheart, and) Tru Thoughts recording artist Kylie Auldist while reporting on the Australian music scene. The band Cookin' On 3 Burners was grooving hard that night, and afterward Kylie and I stepped out back and recorded this acappella - a very personal song for her called "Rosy".

Thanks to the good folks at Other Tongues music, I got to meet up and speak with Ethiopia-born Aussie resident Dereb Desalegn while traveling through Australia. This is a recording of him singing and playing the masenqo - the one string violin common in traditional Ethiopian music.
