I teach sailing at Manhattan Sailing School at the north cove and I was crewing aboard Dennis Connor's Stars and Stripes f1 boat one afternoon. We had wind gusting to 27kts and even with 1 reef in the main and spilling wind out of the sail we touched 12 kts actual speed.
