Trek Australia it is Seething With Excitement

By: Oze Parrot

Trekking through a distant land covering a diverse landscape of 7,741,220 square km., filled with breath taking scenic views, lush rain forests and harsh desert areas can bring about many exciting experiences. Trekking is one of the best methods of exploring new territory and makes a vacation both enjoyable and memorable.

Some people might be put off by the literal translation of trekking, which is to travel on foot, particularly through rugged terrain. If that was the case, walking around Australia would be a severe test of stamina and hardly pleasurable. These days, most of a trekker's travelling is accomplished by coach, boat or four wheel drive safari. When they reach a point of interest, then they hike and camp out, but the trekkers are mostly guided by a crew that sets up camps, provides meals and most of the other stuff that is needed on the trek.

Tourists that decide to trek Australia have a variety of areas to choose from, with conditions that vary from rugged mountain hikes, snow skiing, abseiling and harsh desert crossings to pleasant excursions through scenic national parks, exploring the great barrier reef or fishing from a charter boat on Hervey Bay. The options are limited only by the visitors imagination and the time that they wish to spend in this fabulous country.

When visiting Australia, the trekker that loves mountaineering should head for the east coast and the state of New South Wales, which houses the highest peak in Australia, Mount Kosciuszko. Mount Kosciuszko occupies the southern section of the Kosciuszko National Park, which was named after a Polish patriot by the European explorer, Paul Strzelecki. This mountain range is the source of the Snowy Mountain river and contains the only glacial lakes to be found in Australia.

The Blue Mountains range can be found further north, just west of Sydney, capitol city of New South Wales. This portion of the Great Dividing range is a magnificent example of the scenic wonders of nature, with it's vast precipitous cliff faces bordering huge, mostly unexplored valleys, which contain magnificent waterfalls and virgin bush land that is a sanctuary for many species of wildlife.

These are but a few of the wonders that exist along the east coast of Australia, once the trekker starts adventuring into this vast continent his journey will be without end and may last a life time.
