Chile My Adventure Travel Destination
By: Oze ParrotChile is a long, narrow neck of land that is sandwiched between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, extending southward from Peru to Cape Horn. Chile is 4,630km long, 430km wide at it's broadest point, covers 756,950 square km, which includes an extraordinary variety of landscapes and is ranked as the world's 38th largest country.
As an Adventure Travel Destination, Chile will not leave you disappointed, as there are numerous adventurous activities to be pursued in this diverse country containing mountain ranges, rainforests, sandy beaches, marine reefs, volcanoes and snow fields.
Santiago, the capital city of Chile is set back from the coast and has the snow capped peaks of the Andes Mountain Range as a backdrop. It is home to about 5 million people, which accounts for almost half of the population of mainland Chile, it is quite a modern city and a good starting point for the Adventure Traveller as it is central to several Adventure Travel Destinations.
Santiago is well worth exploring, a visit to the Santa Luca hill, the site where the conqueror Pedro De Valdivia founded Santiago is a must. From the hill top there is a panoramic view of the city, and one can inspect the architecture of Hidalgo's Castle. There are many other fine buildings worthy of inspection and include, the Government Palace, the National Library, the Court House and the National Historical Museum.
There are Adventure Travel opportunities only 60km out of town like, major ski centers, mountain hiking, hot springs, and the beautiful beaches of the Pacific Coast are only an hour's drive to the northwest. The beautiful Maipo Valley with it's many rich vineyards, producers of world class wines is just a little south of Santiago.
These are but a few of the many Adventure activities that are available to the Adventure Travel seeker. Another Adventure Travel Destination in Chile is a visit to Easter Island which lies in the Pacific Ocean 3,600km to the northwest of Santiago and is a possession of Chile.
