Africa, An Adventure Travel Destination
By: Oze ParrotAfrica is the world's second largest continent, extending from the northern temperate zone to deep within the southern temperate zone, it is 7,400k wide at it's broadest point, covers 30.2 million square kilometres and is regarded as the world leader in Adventure Travel Destinations.
Africa is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal, Red Sea and the Indian, Southern and Atlantic Oceans. The continent comprises of 53 independent and sovereign countries where it is estimated over 1,000 different languages are spoken.
An ideal Adventure Travel Destination in Africa is Mt.Kilimanjaro, the roof top of Africa, which rises 5895m above sea level. Mt.Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa, is permanently covered in snow and located to the North East of Tanzania. There are a number of trails that lead to the summit of Kilimanjaro, the most popular being the Marangu and Machame routes. Shelter huts are provided along the Marangu track, camping sites are provided along the Machame track. A guided mountain trek will take six days.
For a different kind of Adventure Travel a 16 day cycling tour of Kenya and Tanzania is available. The tour will take you off the beaten track and allow the traveller to experience touring through game parks, visit an ostrich farm, go on mountain hikes and cycle along part of the Indian Ocean coastline. The bike tour visits many villages where the traveller can see local culture and select locally made craft items. A rain forest trek is also on the agenda.
The east coast is an Adventure Travel Destination in Africa and what better place is there for a Scuba Dive Safari, where the Adventure seeker will be taken for dives at Aliwal Shoal and surrounding reefs that are situated in warm sub tropical waters where all kinds of marine life abound.
After three days of diving, enjoy an eight day safari that includes visits to Zululand, Lake St.Lucia and Sodwana Bay. There are so many Adventure Travel excursions available to the excitement seeker in Africa, a life time could be spent enjoying this, the dark continent.
