India is the world's seventh largest country, covers 3.1 million square kilometres, has a coastline of over seven thousand kilometres with a population of well over 1 billion people. India is located in south Asia, bordered by Pakistan, China and Nepal, the northern border is part of the Himalayas. The north Indian rivers, being in the mountain foothills, present themselves as a collection of the best white water rafting venues in the world. There are several Lakes in the Kumaon region and also The Ganga with upper tributaries, the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi that are world acclaimed by white water rafting enthusiasts. There are many lakes in the Kumaon region that are ideal for kayaking.
